Join me on my journey over the next 28 days as I undertake the Tiny Tea 28 day tea tox! Will Tiny Tea will get the Flick of Approval?
The tea tox:
Pretty simple, 28 days, 84 cups of tea. Drink 30 minutes before each meal, no changes to diet or exercise required. I will be posting weekly updates of my progress and also a final review after I have completed the tea tox.
Why I am doing it:
I love a good health craze as much as the next person but after a suggestion from a friend I decided to give it go, for curiosity as much as anything. Who knew diet tea was so big, brands such as Your Tea and Skinny Tea seem to be popping up everywhere on social media recently. What attracted me to the Tiny Tea (apart from the potential weight loss part) were the claims about boosting energy levels and clearing your skin. With the new University semester starting I thought now would be the perfect time to give it a go as the other health benefits would be really useful! Here is what their website says about the tea:
“Excess fat, fluid and toxins aren’t removed in the way you may know it. No – these stubborn little buggers take a much tougher approach. Unlike other detox’s that contain a lot of laxatives that momentarily flush out toxins I contain chinese herbal ingredients that truly cleanse and nourish your digestive system.I have many properties that perform the following jobs: drying phlegm (a cellulite aggravator), reducing waste and fat and help you fight food stagnation in the body by nourishing your digestive system.Once I have cleansed and nourished your insides you will digest your meals more efficiently… in turn, helping you feel more energised and full of life!”
Who doesn’t want to be full of life!
Ordering the tea:
The Your Tea website was easy to navigate, they only offer a few products and I was thrilled to discover the free postage within Australia. My tea turned up 9 days after ordering/payment so if you are in a hurry I would recommend the express post option.
UPDATE: The tea is no longer free shipping within Australia it is now $5 up to 500g and $15 for anything over that. I wish that I had of stocked up while it was free! Annoying.
The tea itself has minimal packaging for the environmentally conscious and came in a nice box that would look fine on your kitchen bench, I put mine in my big T2 canister and the tea bags have a pretty pink wrapping if that is what you are into. The individually wrapped tea bags are convenient as I will be drinking it 3 times daily so I can throw it in my bag without worrying about leaves going everywhere. Also, tea bags are SO much more convenient than loose tea!
During the tea tox:
I am not a huge or very adventurous tea drinker, I usually drink 1 cup per day of either peppermint, green with some added flavour (vanilla is my personal favourite) or good old English breakfast. I am hoping the flavour is nice, I think my biggest challenge will be making sure I drink it 30 minutes before meals
Over the tea-tox I will not be drastically changing my diet and be going to the gym approximately 3 times per week so I can observe the true effect of the tea. I will post more details of my exercise regime as the challenge progresses.
You can also tea-tox along with me! Just tweet me @flickofapproval and speaking of twitter, Your Tea encourage you to tweet/Instagram along with them with the hashtag #gettingtiny, had a quick look and apart from pics of lots of cups of tea, there were a few promising success stories. Will I #gettiny or suffer an epic fail? Only time (or in this case tea) will tell.
Let me know your thoughts on the tea below in the comments. Happy drinking.
